Yes, there is a definite pattern in Scripture that shows that God judges the sin of the ignorant less strongly than the sin of those who have seen the light of the Gospel. For example, James said, “Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.” (3:1)
