The main issue most christians struggle with is the fact that we are not to be our own boss. Lots of people what to “try” Christianity and “try” things God’s way (when its convenient). They want to go to heaven but still want to live their lives independantly of God. Pride prevents the humility required to repent. Repentance isn’t just saying “I’m sorry” in order to appease someone, it’s saying that how I am doing something is fundamentally wrong and I must course correct, change my ways and go a different direction entirely. In order for the power of God to come and change us we have to fully admit that we can’t do it on our own. This is why repentance is required in order to receive the supernatural gift of salvation.
