Excellent questions. Remember, here we are talking about dressing IMMODESTLY. We are not talking about femininity or beauty (these are good and Godly traits which every woman should desire). God calls women to dress modestly (1 Timothy 2:9). Of course, Satan teaches women the opposite. Satan tells women that modesty is not important and that they should “dress how thou wilt.” Satan argues that if a man can’t control himself, then that is his problem, not hers.
We must resist our pride and refrain from doing things that might make others stumble–even if we have a “right” to do them. Even though Paul had a right to eat anything he wanted, he chose not to eat some things in order for others not to stumble (1 Corinthians 8:13). We know from Scripture that we can “cause” others to sin (Matthew 18:6). See L2S4L8 for more on being “caused to sin.”
In the area of women’s dress, men must exercise self-control, and women are called to not make men stumble by dressing immodestly.
Keep in mind that when a woman dresses immodestly, she can even cause other WOMEN to stumble. Other women may look at her and fall into jealousy and even disdain.
Finally, when a woman is driven to dress immodestly in public, there are certainly demons driving this behavior. In fact, as deliverance ministers, we know that immodest public dressing is a sign of demonization in women. When we encounter a PRM who dresses immodestly, this issue should be addressed during Deliverance Counseling. The demons that drive the immodest dressing should be dealt with during deliverance.
